Tips for How To Get Through a Tough Day
We are given the grace for each day both the good days and the tougher days. Life is a mix of good experiences and also ones that can hurt our heart and make us cry. That is all just part of being human and living life. If you find yourself working through a tough day feeling hurt, disappointed, or sad, know that you are equipped to walk through that season. It’s ok to have tough days. God makes no promise that life is always easy, pain free or all rainbows and butterflies. Through difficult and painful times, comes growth, insight, perspective and appreciation. Life is a mixed bag of events and feelings. I believe most days are good days but even when we have bad ones, we are equipped to handle it.
Here are some suggestions to be of support to yourself on those days:
-Don’t bottle it all up inside. Talk to someone you trust and get things off your chest. (If you are the listener in this scenario….just listen with a compassionate heart. No need to offer solutions or solve the issue at hand.)
-Write it down. Journal and write down how you feel or what is bothering you. Then just leave it there. Write without trying to solve anything. Just get it out on paper. Give no judgement what you write down or express. It is simply words on paper. Express yourself through writing.
-Get outside in nature. Enjoy the beauty God has given us to enjoy freely by taking a walk and noticing the amazing natural beauty.
-Rely on your faith and beliefs. Pray, meditate and read things that inspire your soul. I have mini conversations with God all throughout the day and then do my best to dedicate quiet time and prayer so that I can do more listening to the voice deep within.
-Give yourself some space and open time on your schedule to do something that feels soothing and feels good. Doesn’t have to be productive but needs to feel good to you.
