Cinco de Mayo has brought about some reminiscing of past vacations to Mexico and all things margarita and guac! So instead of forcing myself to write about something possibly more productive, I am leaning into my joy and writing about my favorite kind of margarita and sharing my guacamole tips!

Daydreaming of past Mexico vacations today.

Here’s the Skinny on the Drink and Dip

Skinny Margarita-serving amount 2 drinks

  • Tajin for the glass rim
  • Sliced limes for garnish
  • 2 shots lime juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 3 shots tequila of your choice. I prefer a silver tequila.
  • 1 shot honey syrup that you make (very easy to do!)
  • club soda
  • ice

Mix lime juice, tequila, honey syrup together. I like to shake them on ice and strain and pour in the glass filled with ice. Don’t forget to line the rim of the glass with tajin. Pour 1/2 the drink mixture in each glass. Top off the glass with club soda. Garnish with lime.

To make a batch of honey syrup: (I prefer organic local honey) 1/2 cup honey and 1/2 cup water. Put in a bowl and mix up. Store in a glass jar in the fridge.

Tortillas, Guacamole and two glasses of margarita

The Perfect Pairing….Guacamole

When it comes to guacamole, there is nothing easier in my opinion, to toss together than homemade guacamole. Simply throw out some chips and I’m feeling like a total chef! Here are my tips of what to add in your guacamole:

  • Avocados….duh! 🙂
  • Chopped cilantro
  • Chopped jalapeno
  • A lot of lime juice
  • Garlic powder to taste
  • Salt & Pepper
  • A few chopped roma tomatoes (or toss in a little pico de gallo already chopped up that you find in the produce department.)
  • A dash or two or three of tabasco sauce
